Ensembles

The Hershey Trojan Marching Band performs at various school and community events, as well as exhibition performances throughout the region. Students will be exposed to the Marching Band performance idiom at the highest level. Participation in the Marching Band requires attendance at scheduled rehearsals and performances, and involves time outside of the regular school day and year.

The Hershey Wind Symphony performs traditional and contemporary repertoire of the highest caliber, ranging from the sixteenth century to present day. Study of wind band music will be enriched with the study of music theory, history, and composition. Auditions for the Hershey Wind Symphony occur at the conclusion of the previous school year and is open to any student grades 9-12.

The Hershey Symphonic Band is a non-auditioned ensemble that focuses on the development of fundamental skills necessary to perform on their instrument in a group and individually. Study of wind band music will be enriched with the study of music theory, history, and composition.

The Hershey Jazz Band is available to any student grades 9-12 wishing to increase their knowledge and abilities in music of jazz, rock, Latin, and other “popular” music styles. Membership is by audition, but all students are encouraged to audition. Rehearsals occur before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning in January.

Indoor Percussion is an extra-curricular club at HHS; all rehearsals and performances take place outside of the school day. The group rehearses and performs larger percussion works tailored to the members of the group. The Hershey High School Percussion Ensemble is open to all students in grades 8- 12 interested in developing and mastering their technique on battery, mallet, and auxiliary percussion. No audition is required, but participants must agree to the rehearsal and performance schedule.

Indoor Color Guard is an extra-curricular club at HHS. Our group performs at competitions in the Tournament Indoor Association circuit. The Indoor Color Guard performs to a song chosen to fit the theme each season, while expressing the message of the song through use of dancing, flags, rifles, and sabres. The Hershey High School Indoor Color Guard is open to all students in grades 9- 12 interested in the art of performance. Auditions are held in the fall for spot placement, and rehearsals and performances take place from December through April.
