The Guild War (GW) is a weekly PvP guild event. In the Gold League it consists of 5 matches from Monday-Friday where we randomly fight versus the other GL guilds. The matches are 11 hours each and start at 09:00 UTC and end at 20:00 UTC. In these matches
20 players from both guilds fight each other with their heroes and titans for a total of 40 possible battles.
Normally speaking in NPA the 20 strongest guild members will be selected to play in these GW matches. There are of course a few exceptions, like the match times conflicting with the timezone or guildmembers being away on holiday and such. So please be kind enough to inform the your friendly Guild Leader if you're going to be afk for several days.
Generally speaking at the start of the GW the guild leader and/or other officers will assign targets. Please keep in mind that we are regular people with real lives too, so it might take a couple of hours on rare occasions. You will either be assigned 1 target and battle the same opponent twice or 2 targets and attack both once each. Now if you only received one target but you succeeded your fist try, you can either wait/ask for a second target or use your own judgement to pick one for yourself.
If you choose the latter, do try not to make too much of a mess by picking a target far weaker or stronger than yourself. If your opponent is too weak, you're probably making things harder for the less strong guild members, because they lose their target. If your opponent is too strong, you'll just give their heroes energy to use in the next battle, which might ruin the fight for your stronger guildmates. If you find it hard to judge for yourself, just wait or ask.
Finally there are the weekly Saturday promotion/demotion matches. Since the Silver League guilds only use 15 guild members for a total of 30 possible battles it works a bit differently than the regular matches. We still get 40 chances to attack, but after 30 battles the remaining 10 attempts are blocked. So not everybody will have the opportunity to fight two battles and some guildmates might be too late to join at all. This means you DO NOT senselessly charge at big enemies because you feel you have the right to battle twice.
Of course we are now comfortably at the 3rd place in the GL, meaning we hardly ever have to defend on Saturday and if we do it's against the 3rd place in the SL. The difference in our strength is as such that even if we mess up a bit we won't be demoted. So don't stress too much and let's have some fun with it.
The Clash of Worlds (CoW) is a cross-server PvP game mode for Silver and Gold League guilds only. It's a seasonal event which last for 12 weeks of matches followed by a 2 week stop. It has 2 matches each week from Monday-Wednesday and Thursday-Saturday. Unlike at the Guild War, all 30 guild members are eligible to participate. Of course this also means we expect everybody to join in the fun.
Every player will be able to set 3 hero and 2 titan teams as Defenders. This means there will be a total of 150 teams, but only 95 of these teams are needed to setup the actual defense.
Of those 55 are heroes and 40 are titans. Which in turn means that the weakest 35 hero and 20 titan teams are not needed for defense.
That's why it's important you do not try and make all your Defender teams equal. Make the first as strong as possible and then so on. Because if your weakest team isn’t strong enough, we just won’t use it in our defense. This also makes assigning battles easier because we can better match our forces against those of our opponents.
As final note for the CoW defense is that some fortifications give bonuses when certain units are assigned to them. So you might be asked to tweak your Defenders a little by swapping a few heroes or titans. That way we can take further advantage of these bonuses, boost our defenses and give our opponents a tougher time.
Just as with the GW you will be assigned attack targets for the CoW. But the big difference lies in the fact that each of your heroes and titans can only be used once. So be careful when you select your teams when attacking. Your heroes/titans will also have a mark at their upper right corners if they are assigned to this battle. There are no restrictions for pets or flags when attacking, so be sure to buff up as much as possible.
In general you can just follow the assignments and you should be fine. Of course your guild leader is only human and can make mistakes. So if you have an issue with your assignment(s) you can always send me a PM. However I can't promise you victory at every battle and sometimes I will have to send you towards your deaths. But I do try and make your sacrifices worthwhile. So even if you can't win, please cooperate and die slowly while doing as much damage as possible. Also DO NOT PANIC if you fail to win a battle. Remember you are not alone and there are more attackers than defenders. Take a breath and consider for a moment if you can wait. We have 72 hours and there are guildmates that can help.
On the 3rd day of each match, so Wednesdays and Saturdays, you're are free to use up any remaining attempts. Do try and clear fortifications with assigned targets first, rather than starting to clear new buildings. It's okay to steal kills. Your guildmates have had 48 hours to attack, so it's time to give them a helping hand.
Apart from winning the matches and get promoted in the league, our goal is to clear as many buildings completely in each match. This is because every building that is completely cleared will add bonus Clash of Worlds' trophies to the match rewards, even if you lose. These trophies are needed to upgrade the Light and Darkness totems, so more is always better. There is also a Clash of Worlds Shop, but these rewards pale in comparison to the value the totems offer. Even if you do not have a Light or Darkness totem yet, you can just save up your trophies for when you do. The trophies do not need to be spent within the current season.
