Power Amplifier

• PAs are unlike other amplifiers (e.g. opamp-based amplifiers, small-signal amplifiers based on BJTs / MOSFETs).

• They must develop power at their output: large currents and large voltages at their output (𝑃 = 𝑉𝐼).

• Signal gain is less important; we can always put a pre-amp prior to the PA.
