Purpose of Microcontroller Unit
8-bit microcontroller unit (MCU) handles:
– Control of the local oscillator, implemented using a PLL peripheral; in particular its frequency and generating two LO signals (cos and sin)
– Implementation and control of the TX/RX switch and communicating the TX/RX state to all other subsystems that need them
– Interface with human user to control radio frequency and TX/RX state

This multi-featured PLL allows for easy frequency synthesis over the HF-VHF frequency range.
Includes two PLLs easily controlled by I2C, with 3 outputs.
