Hello! I’m Echo Chen, a third-year Electrical Engineering student at the University of Toronto, also pursuing a Music Performance minor with a focus on classical piano. With over 17 years of piano experience, music has become a core part of my identity—both as a performer and as a curious engineer.
Growing up in a generation shaped by rapidly evolving technology, my passion lies in bridging the gap between music and engineering. My research interests focus on digital musical interfaces, human-computer interaction (HCI), haptics, and embedded system design. My lifelong goal is to use my skills to help people understand, learn, enjoy, perform, and create music more deeply.
Having built a strong foundation in engineering mathematics, signals and systems, analog/digital electronics, and programming, I’m actively seeking research and internship opportunities in areas such as signal processing, interactive hardware/software systems test & design.
You can explore some of my recent projects and news on music on the next pages. I’d love to connect—feel free to reach out using the contact information below!
