Hello! I’m Echo Chen, a third-year Electrical Engineering student at the University of Toronto, also pursuing a Music Performance minor with a focus on classical piano. With over 15 years of piano experience, music has become a core part of my identity—both as a performer and as a curious engineer.
Growing up in a generation shaped by rapidly evolving technology, my passion lies in bridging the gap between music and engineering. My research interests focus on digital musical interfaces, human-computer interaction (HCI), and embedded system design. I’m also particularly driven to explore deep learning for signal generation, digital signal processing (DSP), and sensor integration can support new forms of musical expression and performance.
Having built a strong foundation in engineering mathematics, signals and systems, analog/digital electronics, and programming, I’m actively seeking research and internship opportunities in areas such as signal processing, interactive hardware/software systems test & design.
You can explore some of my recent projects and news on music on the next pages. I’d love to connect—feel free to reach out using the contact information below!
