Sub A_Mixer

Purpose

• The purpose of the BPF is the pre-select a band of radio frequencies that can be received by the radio, by suppressing all other stations outside that band.

• A specific station is selected by downconverting the band down to a lower frequency with a mixer, where a very selective filter (not shown) can select a specific station.

• Limiter (not shown) protects the sensitive RX electronics from accidental large signals applied at the input.

• Amplifier boosts the relatively small signal to a range that can be usefully demodulated by Subsystem B.
