Safer Internet Day is meaningfully integrated into the project Healthy Minds, Happy Students, as a safe and responsible digital environment plays a crucial role in students’ mental health, emotional well-being, and sense of security.
Raising awareness about safe internet use—such as protecting personal data, creating strong passwords, and understanding privacy settings—helps students feel safe, confident, and emotionally secure online. When students know how to protect themselves, feelings of anxiety and uncertainty related to digital spaces are reduced.
Topics such as respectful online communication, digital etiquette, and the prevention of cyberbullying support the development of empathy, self-regulation, and responsible behaviour. These skills contribute to positive relationships and a healthy emotional climate both online and offline.
As part of the project, students are encouraged to reflect on their digital habits and the importance of balance between screen time and offline activities. Safer Internet Day activities promote mindful technology use, helping students understand how excessive or unsafe online behaviour can affect mood, concentration, and stress levels.
By learning how to recognize risky or uncomfortable online situations and knowing where to seek help, students develop a stronger sense of control, resilience, and emotional safety. This empowerment is a key objective of the Healthy Minds, Happy Students project.
To support these goals, participating teachers will collaboratively create a Safer Internet Day Guide. Each teacher will be responsible for one specific section of the guide (e.g. passwords, privacy, digital communication, well-being online). This collaborative approach encourages professional exchange, shared responsibility, and the creation of a high-quality resource that can be used in the classroom, shared within the project, and published on school websites.

One Picture - Many Hands
Students will work in international teams to create one shared piece of artwork.
Each student adds maximum two lines, shapes, or small elements to the picture (for example: a wave, a star, a leaf, a heart, a window, a word, a simple symbol). They must respect what the previous student created and continue the idea.
The goal is to build a final artwork together and show that teamwork, patience, creativity, and flexibility are important Skills for Life.
Steps:
The teacher creates one shared Canva page for each team.
Student 1 starts the drawing (very simple) and adds two elements to the picture.
Student 2 adds two elements.
Student 3 adds one two elements, etc.
All teams share their final artworks in TwinSpace

Only two elements per student
No deleting other students’ work
