Homepage/My Profile
The home screen of our app is the user profile screen. It is here where you can find the links to many of the other features of our app such as the leaderboards, friends activity, and your user profile. In addition, clearly shown on the main page is an image of the earth fills as users get points and informs how many points left till the next reward. The MyProfile page shows how close you are to the next reward, similar to the earth on the homepage. On it there is also a tab to see your activity and the rewards you have earned. .
Incentives
It's hard to get people to be green on their own, so our solution for that ends up making up the core of our app is the incentives around being green. Our app has two main features to earn points that can get you rewards on products at stores. One way is by scanning receipt barcodes and the other is taking selfies with green products or recycling. Our goal is to collaborate with stores to allow users to earn coupons for certain green products. Our research showed that one of the main reasons people don't buy renewable products is because they are often more expensive. These incentives and rewards allow the price differential to become less of an issue.
Barcode Scanner
As one of the main features and incentives of our app is the ability to gain points for being “green”, we need a way for users to keep track of their green purchases. What we plan to implement is a barcode scanner that one can use to scan the receipt after a purchase to log the renewable items they buy. Our team will build a database of items from partnered stores that will be used on the backend to recognize scanned items and reward users for their efforts to stay green.
Leaderboards
The leaderboard section allows users to be able to compare their point totals and progress compared to their friends, people nearby, and users across the entire domain of the app. The goal of having the leaderboard as a form of social comparison will help motivate users to remain competitive against other environmental enthusiasts. Inclusion of the leaderboard can also serve as tool to help users compare and contrast themselves with other users to help create new connections and collaborate on further ideas to make environmentally friendly decisions. The presence of the other users creates a sense of community among users, regardless of where they are located. Users may also be encouraged to invite others to compete against a larger group of their own friends.
EcoFeed
The EcoFeed will serve as a social media aspect for users to see more of their contact’s activity feed. This will be a similar model to venmo’s current model. This section will also allow for users to post selfies of themselves consuming these products. These selfies will be posted in the feed as well, allowing for other users to see these pictures. Some of the other activity logs that will be available on this screen will include the amount of points people put up in that day, if anyone got a new reward, and pictures.
Smartwatch Feature
The smartwatch feature allow users to connect their smartwatch to their app on their mobile device. This will show their current score, as well as their coupon offers in their profile. The watch will also allow them to be notified when they have been surpassed by other users. Users will have the option to turn this function on or off when utilizing the app. The smartwatch function benefits users so if they leave their mobile device at home or in the car when they are shopping, they are still able to use the incentives they have been working to receive.
