8th Grade Teachers

Mr. Omar Garner

Omar Garner is a Nashville Native and Haynes Middle School Alumni. He graduated from Fisk University with a B.A. in Spanish. This is his second year teaching at Haynes Middle.

Mr. Garner was the Assistant Football and Basketball Coach and the Head Coach for boys track. He is currently working on his Masters degree at Lipscomb University.

He has two children, one that is two years old, and another one that is a year old.

Mr. Marcus Kinnon

Marcus Kinnon has served in Metro Nashville Public Schools for over 18 years. He taught English for twelve years and was a Literacy Coach for five years. Mr. Kinnon was also the Middle School Basketball Coach of the Year four times.

He has a daughter that teaches English in Chattanooga. Mr. Kinnon has three dogs, Summitt, Wolfgang and Bradley.

Mr. Kinnon has a B.S in Human Performance and Sport Science and a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction from Tennessee State University. He has +45 hrs in Administration and Supervision from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Bethel University.

A note from Mr. Kinnon: I enjoy reading, traveling the world, and spending time with my family and dogs. I am excited to be teaching at Haynes Middle this year!
