Some details about the current Vela pulsar observing system.
A key purpose is to notify the remaining disk space left on the SSD data drive. Failure to be aware of a lack of remaining space has led to the system not recording the raw data of an observation on more than one occasion.
The information below gives a reminder to cull the raw data files when disk space is running low.
The screenshot on the right shows the terminal view during idle periods waiting for next Vela transit. During actual data acquisition and subsequent processing this view is replaced with terminal responses from the particular application in the chain which is currently running.
Along with the set of relevant information being displayed dynamically, the graphic at the bottom shows the current position of Vela w.r.t. to the transit antenna's 3 dB beamwidth.
