Considered to be the oldest and one of the most beautiful road passes in Europe and was featured in the 1964 film The Yellow Rolls-Royce starring Ingrid Bergman and Omar Sharif.
The Old Loibl Pass lies at an elevation of 1369 metres and is adorned by two stone obelisks. At the top there is also a renovated mountain hut; in clear weather there is a good view of the Ljubljana and Klagenfurt basins.
A gravel road leads to the pass, almost two kilometres in length, with 13 serpentines. It is closed to car traffic apart from September, when vintage cars and motorcycles roar through here in the International Oldtimers Mountain Race. In winter there is an extreme sledding run for the crazy and adventurous, and below the pass is Slovenia's first adventure park.
About 15-20 min. drive to the free car park on the Austrian side and about 1 h hike to the top.

Pyramidenkogel is an 851-metre (2,792 ft) high mountain located to the south of the Wörthersee and near the pretty town of Maria Wörth. The mountain has been a tourist attraction since at least the late 19th century. The view from its top is mentioned in Karl Baedeker's 1879 travel guide book "The Eastern Alps". The new panoramic tower, finished in 2013, is built of wood and steel, and at a height of 100 metres it is the tallest wooden observation tower in the world. It features a visitors platform at 83 metres, a cafe at 70 metres, and a 66-metre long slide (the longest slide in Europe). About 1 h drive away.
You can literally stand in three counties at once at this 1600 m high tri-border point with stunning views, where the borders of Austria, Italy and Slovenia meet. Accessible by car (forest track) or cable car from Arnoldstein. In winter it is also a ski resort. About 1h drive.
