Bodental

Bodental is a fairytale valley of forests, meadows and mountain peaks. This blissfully quiet high mountain valley is a paradise for hikers and mountaineers as well as those just wanting to get away from it all. Bodental offers numerous hiking trails for all levels - from the Panoramawanderweg (an easy 1 ¼ hour walking circuit taking in the local scenery) to the Hochstuhl at 2237 metres (a challenging whole day climb where you are rewarded with breathtaking views across Austria, Slovenia and Italy). Within walking distance from Haus Idyll is the fascinating turquoise Meerauge (Sea Eye) pond and the enchanting Märchenwiese (Fairytale Meadow).

In the vicinity of Bodental are:

• Tscheppaschlucht - one of Austria's most beautiful gorges with its impressive Tschauko waterfall (2 - 4 h walk in the gorge)
• Klagenfurter Hütte, an alpine shelter and excursion destination at 1664 m above sea level (3 h hike each way)
• Old Loibl Pass, the oldest and most beautiful road pass in Europe (10 min. drive and 45 min. hike to the top)
