Klagenfurt am Wörthersee

Klagenfurt, on the eastern shore of Lake Wörthersee, is the capital city of the Austrian province of Carinthia. Its emblem is the Lindwurm, a winged dragon, of which there is a statue on the main square, Neuer Platz. Nearby, frescoes and reliefs adorn the opulent 16th century cathedral. Baroque and Renaissance buildings line the narrow streets around Alter Platz, with its bright yellow, 17th century Old Town Hall.

Ljubljana, Slovenia

Beautiful capital of Slovenia with its expansive Tivoli Park was named the European Green Capital 2016 . Along the narrow streets on the banks of the Ljubljanica River, the only sounds you’re likely to hear are the patter of shoes on cobblestones, the voices of people out walking and the clanking of glasses at side walk cafes. In the Old Town area, only pedestrians, bicycles, and buses are allowed. The curving Ljubljanica River with its interesting bridges runs through the city's old town and is lined with outdoor cafes. Ljubljana has many attractions to offer for the whole family and individual tourists. Castles, river cruises, cafes, bars, galleries and museums, including the National Museum of Slovenia, displaying historic exhibitions, and the Museum of Modern Art, home to 20th-century Slovene paintings and sculptures.

A mighty medieval fortress, the castle of Ljubljana is just one of the castles in the city but certainly the biggest one and also the most visited. Built in the middle of the 15th century, today it is a popular tourist destination. It offers an outstanding view over the city, a romantic atmosphere and a place of numerous cultural events. You don`t have to pay anything to enter the castle courtyard, where you can relax by a cup of coffee, glass of wine or a piece of cake.

Ljubljana is about 1h drive from Haus Idyll. Hint: it can be tricky to find a parking spot in the centre, but there's a large car park in front of the train and bus station, only 10 min. walk to the Old Town.

Tarvisio, Italy

Would you like an original Italian pizza baked in a wood fired oven and served with real Italian coffee? Drive for 1h to taste real Italian food and drink or go shopping in this charming, small, old town in the Province of Udine. Located upon ancient trade routes across the Alps to Venice, it's roots date back to Roman times. Tarvisio features the 15th century church Saints Peter and Paul. At the summit of the 1,789-metre (5,869 ft) Mount Lussari (Monte Lussari) is a pilgrimage church, where according to legend in 1360 a shepherd discovered a statue of Virgin Mary. The church and the nearby ski centre can be reached by cable car from Malborghetto Valbruna.
