Holiday apartments in the Austrian Alps
We do not accept new bookings at the moment but we should start soon!
"Haus" is the German word for "house", while one of the meanings of "idyll" is "a scene of idyllic charm". The inspiration for the name came from our guests, who often described this place as idyllic.
Haus Idyll is located in the beautiful and blissfully quiet high mountain valley of Bodental at 1023 metres above sea level. It's a hidden gem where you can take it easy, relax and get away from it all. Here you will find idyllic nature including the turquoise Sea Eye pond (Meerauge) and the Fairytale Meadow (Märchenwiese) as well as countless all year round hiking trails for all levels. In winter there is a family ski slope, long cross country ski routes and endless snowshoeing possibilities. Within driving distance are swimming lakes, the Old Loibl Mountain Pass (the oldest mountain pass in Europe), the incredible Tscheppaschlucht gorge with the impressive Tschauko waterfall, and the charming town of Klagenfurt (capital of the Austrian province of Carinthia) with a variety of attractions for the whole family. There are also plenty of interesting places to see within an hour's drive, including Slovenia and Italy. Find out more on the Excursions page.
Haus Idyll offers the Edelweiss Apartment on the upper floor and the Edelstein Apartment on the basement floor. Each apartment sleeps four people and has a fully equipped kitchen. In our village there is a small shop selling essentials and you'll also find three restaurants serving traditional local cuisine. The town of Ferlach is 15 minutes' drive down the mountain with its restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, banks, post office, pharmacy, doctor etc.
We will be able to offer help during your stay as we live on the ground floor of the house. We are Patrycja and Guy. We like nature, travelling, snow sports and hiking. In spring 2016 we decided to live the dream and move to the Austrian Alps. We started renting the apartments in summer 2016 and we've had fantastic reviews from our guests (click here to see our Airbnb profile and reviews). In June 2018 we've earned Airbnb Superhost status two years in a row! (Update 2019: Our Airbnb profile is temporarily inactive, since we're not renting at the moment but we plan to restart soon!)
We'll be happy to tell you all about the many beautiful walking and hiking routes in the area and other things to do and see. If you want, Guy would be happy to accompany you on hikes, depending on his availability at the time. Patrycja speaks English and Polish while Guy speaks English and German.

The most convenient option is to have your own car. Upon booking we'll provide our GPS coordinates, full address, phone numbers and detailed instructions on how to get here.
If you're flying here, the recommended airport is Ljubljana Airport (LJU) in Slovenia, 50 min. drive away, where you can rent a car at a reasonable price. Klagenfurt Airport (KLU) in Austria, 40 min. drive away may also be an option.
Public transport is a possibility, although connections are limited.
