Weighted Average Curve Number Calculations:

From 1600 when Burlington was fully forested to now, the change in land use has resulted in a change in infiltration rates and runoff. As of 1999, the once forested land had been turned into an area of city streets, buildings, parking areas and sidewalks. This would decrease infiltration rates and increase runoff.

From 1999 to 2018, the only noticeable change was the addition of another parking area, but that would still have an effect on infiltration and runoff, further increasing runoff and further decreasing infiltration rates.

Since Burlington is on a downward slope towards Lake Champlain, increased land use and therefore increased runoff would decrease the water quality of the lake, since polluted water would flow immediately to it rather than permeate the surrounding land.
