Over time, this area of the Winooski River has undergone channel change, most notably the stream becoming less wide. Land use changes such as the construction of a bridge, as well as the increase in developments such as houses and a parking lot, may have had an effect on the channel causing it to change based on differing patterns of sediment flow.

When comparing maximum flood events with average streamflow, maximum flooding events have a higher discharge. The percent standard deviation for annual maximum discharge is more than double that of annual average discharge. The mean discharge of maximum flooding events is slightly over 12 times that of average streamflow. The 1927 flood, as shown on this graph on the far right side, acts as an extreme outlier, and skews the graph towards the right.
