On Friday 5th November 2021, Travis Scott (age 30 years) was performing in front of his home crowd in Houston, Texas. A stampede took place as people rushed to the front of the stage. It had become one of the deadliest concerts in US history. Eight people died and dozens more were injured. At least 25 people were transported to the hospital and of those, 13 remained hospitalized Saturday afternoon, the mayor said. Five of them are under 18 years old, he added.
The victims were aged between 14 and 27 years of age, while one of the victims’ ages remains unconfirmed, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner declared in a news meeting Saturday evening. There are no individuals announced missing, the civic chairman added.
Before the show began, individuals spoke of the air feeling unbelievably pressed. Afterwards, they described feeling squashed and seeing others drop and shout in dread. The show went on despite this. Scott eventually halted the show well into the chaos after spotting individuals in trouble close to the stage.
"Security, someone help genuine fast," he said into his receiver.
Why didn't Travis stop the show earlier many have ask. This incident has left everybody contemplating whether this was a tragic accident or a result of negligence.
Scott, one of the largest names in rap music, launched Astroworld with concert promoters Live Nation in 2018. On Monday, court cases were filed which includes allegations that Scott did not effectively risk assess and plan for the event.
