San Antonio, Texas, is a vibrant city known for its rich history, cultural diversity, and dynamic blend of old and new. Famous for the iconic Alamo, a historic site of the 1836 battle for Texan independence, San Antonio is also home to the picturesque River Walk, a network of canals lined with restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues. The city offers a mix of Spanish colonial architecture, modern skyscrapers, and charming neighborhoods, alongside a thriving arts scene, delicious Tex-Mex cuisine, and annual events like Fiesta San Antonio. With a warm climate and a laid-back yet energetic atmosphere, San Antonio is a city that beautifully balances its historic roots with contemporary living.
I flew down to San Antonio for the Texas Bandmasters Assocation conference. I was also able to take drone shots from several landmarks and parks in the city. If you thought controlled airspace was a problem in Myrtle Beach was annoying, San Antonio was more of a hassle. I had to contend with San Antonio International Airport, Fort Sam Houston which is an Army post, Stinson Airport, and Lackland Air Force Base. Just to put it into perspective, here is a section from the DJI website for San Antonio, showing you where the controlled airspace is.
