The Doyle Road Covered Bridge is a historic wooden covered bridge located in Jefferson Township, Ashtabula County, Ohio, spanning Mill Creek. It was originally built in 1868 using a Town lattice truss design, a common engineering style of the nineteenth century. The bridge measures just under one hundred feet in length and was constructed to support rural wagon and farm traffic. In 1987, the bridge underwent a major restoration that added laminated arches to strengthen it for continued use. During this renovation, the bridge also received a new roof and flooring while maintaining its historic appearance. Long, narrow side openings allow light into the interior and highlight the distinctive diamond-pattern lattice structure. The bridge is sometimes referred to as the Mullen Bridge, named after a nearby farm associated with its early history. It remains open to vehicle traffic and is one of Ashtabula County’s many preserved covered bridges. The surrounding rural landscape makes it a popular stop for photographers and visitors touring the county’s covered bridge routes. Today, the Doyle Road Covered Bridge stands as a reminder of nineteenth-century craftsmanship and transportation history in northeast Ohio.
