Originally, the Delivering Quality Policing mission was introduced by Chief Constable OfficerEethCoth121 on the 11th November 2023 as the new vision for Hampshire Constabulary to aim to achieve by working towards our six main goals which can be found here. As of the 17th December 2024, the Chief Constable announced a new revised vision that has adapted our previous goals to make the new ones more efficient in achieving, merging the six goals into three policing priorities with individual targets for each of the goals.
The decision to make changes to these goals was on the basis that our previous six ones were not completely within our power to achieve and only some have been successful. This updated vision was aimed to be more realistic and achieveable with the resources that we have. We aimed to achieve the following goals for the remainder of 2024 until January 2026. However after a further thorough review, the Chief Constable overhauled the priorities again to be more accomondated for the context that we are in, to be achived by the end of 2025 and replace both of the previous goals. We are committed to ensuring these priorities will not be changed again as there are now adapated and realistic goals and objectives to be achieved under each priority, including some from the preivous two visions.
The previous priorities can be found below:
The Constabulary previously aimed to:
Recruit and train 15 police officers by 2026
Introduce new and increase the number of current specialist teams
Ensure police stations remain open, with there being front counter services in at least two stations
Ensure Local Policing Teams are addressing local concerns
Establish a community engagement event each month
Create a Force-wide policing operation to tackle violent crime, supported by the Violent Crime Task Force
Work with our partners in the Fire and Ambulance Services, National Crime Agency and local authorities to tackle serious and organised crime.
Recruit Detectives
Introduce crime reference numbers, in partnership with the Department for Integrated Call Centres
Ensure investigations for all crimes are conducted efficiently
The 2023 - 2024 vision was introduced by Chief Constable OfficerEethCoth121 on the 11th November 2023 as the new vision for Hampshire Constabulary to aim to achieve by working towards our six main goals of:
Recruiting and training 30 more police officers and staff by 2025, ensuring they are all trained to the highest standards as possible in laws and legislation, preventing, responding to and handling incidents, making my officers, staff and volunteers not only create communities that are safe, but that feel safe, as well as ensuring our officers and staff know how to use our different technology systems, through the best possible and most realistic rigorous training recruitment process;
Providing a visible policing presence within our local communities through police surgeries, open days, engagement sessions and putting neighbourhood teams at the heart of each community;
Restoring and retaining the public's faith and trust in the police, by being more open and transparent with the work that we do, overhauling local policing which has already been successfully implemented by the introduction of Local Policing Areas, but there is much more work to do as we move through the year;
Improving the way our investigations are carried out by recruiting not just police constables but also detective constables and aligning them within our local policing teams, creating a more realistic and efficient process of reactive and proactive policing, and therefore, building a better relationship with the public;
Increasing the number of and increasing specialist teams such as our newly formed Area Crime and Neighbourhood Enforcement Teams as well as our Roads Policing and Armed Response Units, creating a hostile environment for criminals;
Building a better collaboration with our partners from the National Crime Agency to tackle organised crime and the Security Service to counter terrorism threats, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue, South Central Ambulance and His Majesty's Coastguard services to keep the public safe and local government and businesses to reinforce our commitment in preserving public service.
What this means is, what and how we do things from now on will be at the highest standards that the public can expect of us, whether that be through our rigorous training process, the delivery of service from our operational and non-operational policing teams, as well as the decisions we make.
Whilst also always putting the decision-making process in the heart of the community we serve, we also want our officers and staff to feel properly supported and therefore we make it a top priority to offer them with as much support and compassion towards them as possible through regular meetings with line managers, continued professional development and direct access to well-being services by the Department for Welfare & Awareness.
Additionally, we will be acting more on information and intelligence given to us by the community but also from crime statistics which will be analysed monthly by our Local Commanders and other senior officers, to better improve our policing services.
Furthermore to meeting our goals, we will be bettering our commitment to maintaining professional standards within the Force, ensuring the highest standards are upheld throughout all the entire Constabulary as well as investigating all complaints in a timely manner and within an individually established timeframe.
To sum it up, from now on, everyone - the public, those working for us and everyone else, can expect the most quality service from Hampshire Constabulary.
