The Local Policing Command (LPC) delivers frontline policing across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight - tackling crime, responding to emergencies, engaging with communities, and protecting the vulnerable.
Formed through the alignment of prevention, neighbourhood, response, and investigation functions, the LPC ensures that local policing is more integrated, coordinated and visible than ever before.
The LPC is led by a Senior Management Team, comprising:
Assistant Chief Constable (Local Policing) – strategic lead for all local policing delivery across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Chief Superintendents (Area Commanders) – responsible for local policing in each of the four policing areas:
Eastern Area
Western Area
Northern Area
Isle of Wight Area
Each area is subdivided into districts, led by District Commanders (Superintendents or Chief Inspectors), supported by Deputy District Commanders (Chief Inspectors or Inspectors).
This structure ensures clear leadership, strong accountability and a consistent local focus across every part of the force.
The Local Policing Command’s purpose is to:
Protect people and places by preventing and investigating crime.
Deliver visible, responsive policing that builds trust and confidence.
Work with partners to reduce harm and tackle complex social issues.
Safeguard the most vulnerable members of our communities.
Tackle offenders and bring them to justice.
Every officer, PCSO and member of staff in the LPC shares the same mission - to make Hampshire and the Isle of Wight safer for everyone who lives, works and visits here.
