In 2024, the challenge was to create a section of a roller coaster that started and ended at specified locations. My team utilized 3D modeling, 3D printing, programming of a control panel and lights, and servo motors to create the physical model.
I helped coach any teammates who were unfamiliar with solid modeling, helped create the spline and track cross-section, and was tasked with creating a connector method between the individual tracks so that the pieces would align as intended after printing.
Our coaster, named the Lorenz Attractor, was themed after the mathematical concept of chaos theory and incorporated time travel into the theme.
We placed first in our bracket and scored 2nd overall.
