OEP in Action

Availability of Open Resources

Operating as an open practitioner means educational resources are also open (OER). Joe Wicks "The Body Coach" is a prolific creator of freely available content.

YouTube Channel

A major innovation by Joe Wicks "The Body Coach" was to host health and fitness education videos on YouTube, a free platform open to all. As he says after giving a 'shout out' to a participant in Kenya at minute 18:56 in this 'PE with Joe' video, "I love YouTube, it's global, it's free, it's accessible... it makes me so happy."

Website

Hosting resources on a website is more traditional. There are extensive articles and recipes available and although they carry a copyright symbol, they can easily be linked to through hyperlinks.

Being Social

Operating as an open practitioner also means being highly visible to learners. Joe Wicks "The Body Coach" is present on all major social networks, with multi-posts a day being made by both the "Body Coach" team and personally by Joe Wicks. His direct to camera videos and those showing his home and family life are often the most popular.

In the News

In addition to his own content channels and social media, Joe Wicks "The Body Coach" growing popularity has also made him newsworthy. He has raised money for Children in Need with a 24 hour workout, been awarded an MBE by the Queen, and regularly appears as a guest on news programmes such as "Good Morning Britain".
