Gump's Gift Cards (GGC)
The Gump’s Gift Card comes enclosed in an elegant envelope and is shipped to your mailbox.
The card may be redeemed for merchandise at our San Francisco store, at gumps.com or by phone.
Purchases will be deducted from this card until the value reaches zero. The card cannot be redeemed for cash except as required by law.
Gump’s is not responsible for replacing the value of this card if it is lost, stolen, destroyed, damaged or used without your consent. This card should be treated like cash.
Customers have the option to purchase a physical gift card or an e-gift card. Both options are on our website and give details about what each card entails.
There are similarities between the physical card and the e-card, however, please note some of the differences.
Gift cards come in preset amounts, but customers have the ability to purchase a custom amount for their gift card.

Placing A GGC Order

When a customer asks to place an order for a Gump's Gift Card (GGC) you will follow your normal call flow steps. When searching for the gift card, you can simply search "ggc" in the Search Products box, then select and add the desired gift card amount to the order. It's okay if there is a negative qty for the amount of cards available. You will then proceed to checkout with the customer as usual.
Custom GGC

Customers may want to purchase a gift card for an amount that is not listed in the pre-loaded card options. We are always more than willing to accommodate this, however, there are a few extra steps for Custom GGC orders.
One of the great things about custom gift cards is that there are a few different ways to complete the order, it is completely up to you and your customer to decide the best outcome for them. Please review the video below for a tutorial on how to place an order for a custom GGC.

Customers will call in from time to time asking us to check the balance on their Gump's Gift Card. The cards can be searched in Shopify. There are some things to know when searching for a gift card, they will be listed below
Gift Cards Prior To 2019
Gift Cards Prior To 2019
As mentioned in the video and the FAQ'S, Misc, & Glossary section of this guide, we do not have the ability to search for or honor gift cards prior to 2019.
A lot of our customers do hold on to their gift cards for many years and will want to use them, however, we cannot honor old, invalid cards.
A good indication that the card is no longer valid is by asking your customer if the numbers on the back are alphanumeric, or just a string of numbers. If they give you a string of numbers, this means the card is no longer valid since our current cards are alphanumeric. Below is an example of an old GGC that no longer has value.

Our current gift cards are alphanumeric. When a customer calls in and you ask for the last four digits of the card if they give you "a1b2" that is a great indication that they have a current gift card and you will be able to locate it in Shopify, and provide a balance for them.
It saves the customer time and our time when you ask them to provide the last four of the gift card upfront so you can determine right away if the card is current or invalid.
