Model good behaviour
Do not focus on punishments rather look at using either corrective, supportive and preventative discipline strategies.
Establish clear and concise rules
Praise and recognise learners for their achievements and good behaviour
Make lessons and activities exciting, engaging and meaningful
Get to know and understand your learners at a personal level
Address inappropriate behaviour immediately so that it can have a ripple effect on the rest of the learners so as to not engage in such behaviour. It is also important to understand causes of behaviour.
Stick to your daily schedule as much as possible
Include learners in making decisions that affect them. They should also have a say in the classroom.
Encourage your learners so that they reach their fullest potential.
