Class: DMET 526 - Organization and Administration of Instructional Technology
This artifact is a instructional training lesson covering the app - GeoGebra. The lesson contains an advertisement for the training, concept map for brainstorming and lesson that allows teachers to use the software with guidance from an instructor.
This project was enjoyable and allowed for research into a technology that I have been wanting to implement but never had time to investigate the possibilities for use in the classroom. The activity itself required me to complete research and use different tools to complete the assignment such as a concept map tool for brainstorming and presentation tool to create the advertisement for the training.
Class: DMET 540 - Multimedia I
Podcast for educational purposes is an easy method of giving a quick tutorial or instruction to students who may be struggling with a concept or need assistance in how to access material. Technology allows students to access assignments and other instructional resources 24-7 and teachers can not always be available to students. Podcasts allow students to give short instructions to students that can be posted on school sites such as google classroom for students to access for assistance at anytime.
Podcasts can also be beneficial for collaboration between teachers to share ideas. A group of teachers can create a podcast at one school and share it with other teachers at another school to share a concept, instruction or any topic. Many teachers already listen to podcasts to gain information, ideas on any aspect of education.
I have never listened to or created a podcast before and did not see the usefulness of incorporating them in education. I tend to be a visual learner and prefer videos but now that I have viewed several prior to completing this project and created my own I can see that they are another method of getting information out to students. Podcasts are easy to create and access even when there may be a poor internet connection, unlike videos that may take time to play if the internet is slow. Listening to a podcast allows for the individual listening to multitask and be able to listen while completing the task. Podcasts are a simple solution to providing short clips of information.
