Class: DMET 580 1 - Research Project I: Action Research Design
This project consists of a research binder that is a formulation of an analysis of ten research articles. I i looked at articles based on a research question written on an area of focus, as a math coach I am interested in online curriculum. The project started with general research of articles that pertained to my research question about digital textbooks/online curriculum. Then I generated an annotated bibliography to be the foundation of my research binder. The binder consists of ten articles; capstone studies, variable studies, and methodology studies with an assessment report written on each article so I could assess how to incorporate the information found in the articles for a future research project. The binder also assisted by providing information for my research proposal paper.
I had never researched academic articles prior to this project and found it challenging to find articles that addressed my research question. Online curriculum is a new concept that has not had many studies completed about the use of it in the classroom, but the need for instructional technology during COVID demonstrated the need for research. This project pushed me beyond my comfort level and required me to think about why a concept may or may not be beneficial to support student learning. Outcome 3 is a necessary strategy that needs to be used when assessing best practices for the classroom. This project has helped me realize the need to complete research to better support the teachers I collaborate with as a math coach and be an advocate for the teachers and students.
