22/11/2025 - Concert in aid of The Burton Prostate Cancer Support Group at Rolleston Scout HQ, Station Road, Rolleston On Dove, DE13 9AB
We arranged this concert with men's health in mind having taken part in "Movember" to raise money for that cause. It was particulary keen for us all as one of our choristers Michael L'Oste-Brown sadly died just a few days before and it was lovely to welcome his daughter (Jan) and Granddaughter to hear us sing. We all very much had Losty in our thoughts that evening. We managed to raise over £400 for the cause to help them offer more support to men and their families who are affected by Prostate Cancer. We had a very moving presentation by Trevor Anderson about what the Support Group do and offer.
21/11/2025 - Christmas Songs at Garden King Garden Centre, Park Road, Newhall, DE11 0TX
Another appearance at this festively decorated venue to inject some warmth in what was a chilly evening. There was good reoresentation from the choir and a first singing of our new rtather unruly christmas song "Carol Singers" and it went rather well!
18/10/2025 - Concert in aid of Rainbow's Hospice at St Mary's Church, Barwell, LE9 8DG
Another excellent concert by the choir with the additional support from the talented Earl Shilton Hand Bell Ringers and the superb Soprano Soloits Stephanie Addison. Despite a couple of postcode mix-ups we had a good sized choir and we gave a good performance. The Hand Bell ringers played a number of recognisable pieces and we were wowed by the skills. Steph Addison sang four well known songs that everyone enjoyed. We managed to rtaised £564.00 for Rainbow's Hospice.
04/10/2025 - Stamford Methodist Church, 11 Barn Hill, Stamford, PE9 2AE
The minister of Stamford Methodist Church Reverend Andrew Hollins invited the choir to sing at his church. Andrew's father Bryan used to sing with the choir up to his death in 2018. We took 20 choristers to Stamford, sickness having reduced our numbers.
Prior to the concert we were treated to some sandwiches and cakes with delicious cheese strings. We were most grateful for the hospitality. We also had time for a walk around Stamford prior to the concert.
Sporting our new black shirts and dinner suits, we gave a great performance and this was well received by a responsive audience. Afterwards we heard comments such as "the best choir we have heard at this church" and "the diction was excellent".
We had several superb solos from Geoff Hampson, The Three Amigos (Terry Jones, Keith Mitchell & Phil Lunn) and from our MD Karl Harper.
The concert ended shortly after 9pm following an encore of African Trilogy. We then made our way to the coach and back to Swadlincote.
06/09/2025 - Joint Concert with Heath Chorus on behalf of the Shoebox Appeal Burton, St Mary's Church, Stretton, DE13 0HD
This concert was organised by a couple of our choristers who are involved with the Teams4U charity who run the Shoebox appeal in Burton. The ladies of the Heath Chorus sang beautifully and between us we managed to raise over £1400 for the charity. They even put on an excellent buffet after the concert.
09/08/2025 - Concert at The Kiln, Sharpe's Pottery, West Street, Swadlincote
This was a superb concert and not an empty seat in the Kiln on a beautiful summer's evening! The choir opened with The Cole Porter Medley. There was a sectrion of traditional welsh songs such at Tydi a Rhodaist, Calon Lan and Gwahoddiad. What shall we do wi the Drunken Sailor was sung at speed and slur! Working Man was there and it has become s choir favourite. There were solos from Geoff Hampson, Brian Rose, Karl Harper and The Three Amigos. We finished with a lively section containing Seventy Six Trombones and Alexander's Ragtime Band with the more somber Bring Him Home sandwiched between. We are planning to sing there again next summer.
