What a wonderful evening we all had at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Ashby-De-La-Zouch. We were priveleged to hear Harriet Eyley , a local soprano who has sung with Welsh National Opera and travelled Europe and she sang a number of solo pieces and was also accompanied in other songs by Steph Addison, another talented local singer who currently works as a teacher in Birmingham at BOA. Flower Duet and The Oyster were particularly delightful. The ladies were accompanied by the accomplished Alan Hutchinson. We were also delighted to be entertained prior to the concert and during the interval by Effie Reid, a very talented Harpist already at such a young age.
The church was heaving with barely an empty seat in the house. The choir performed 3 songs for the first time in a concert - The Rose, True Love and the rather quirky The Perfect Male Voice Choir. We hope you all agreed with the title of that last song!
The choir's MD Karl Harper also gave a stirring performance of "If I were a Rich Man" from the musical Fiddler on The Roof.
It was a cold evening but we feel that we warmed the audience with our performance with some wonderful comments after the show.
