Our Pre-CanSkate program is for skaters who have no previous skating experience. This program runs once a week for 30 minutes and is for skaters of all ages but most skaters are around 3-5 years of age. We do not have a minimum age for this program but do expect skaters to be able to be away from their parents while on the ice as parents are to sit in the stands during the session. Skaters will learn the basics of skating such as falling down and getting up, moving forward, moving backward, jumping, and turning with the help of professional coaches and program assistants.
Younger skaters may choose to stay in the Pre-CanSkate program even when they have mastered these skills until they are ready for the longer CanSkate session.

Our CanSkate program is for skaters who have some skating experience (are able to get up by themselves and move forward) or those who have completed the Pre-CanSkate program. This program runs once a week for 45 minutes and includes and on-ice warm-up, stations where skaters learn a variety of skills (balance for forward skills, control for backward skills and stopping, and agility for turning and jumping). The CanSkate program is a necessity for any skater who would like to go into figure skating, hockey, ringette, or speed skating.
Younger skaters who have mastered the Pre-CanSkate skills but are not yet ready for the longer sessions, may wish to stay in Pre-CanSkate.
Once skaters have completed stage 3 of CanSkate, they are able to join us on our Junior/Star 1 session (figure skating) or our Power Skating classes (hockey and ringette).

This program is for skaters who have completed stage 3 of CanSkate (or come to us with equivalent skill) and wish to learn how to figure skate. Junior skaters are working on stages 4-6 of CanSkate which focuses on basic skating skills (edges, cross overs, 1-foot turns) as well as beginner figure skating skills. Once skaters complete stage 6, they are in the Star 1 program (which runs on the same session) which is the official start of the StarSkate program.
Figure skates are required for this program but we understand some skaters may need time to transition from hockey skates.
This program runs twice a week (1 day options are available) for an hour. All lessons are included in the fee.

Once skaters complete their 3 Star 1 assessments (dance, skills, and freeskate), they are ready to move into out StarSkate program. This program continues to build on basic figure skating skills with the goal of progressing through the StarSkate program and having the opportunity to compete. This program runs 3 days a week for 90 minutes (with the option of skating 1 or 2 days as well). There are some group lessons included but most lesson time is done with a private coach and is NOT included in the registration fee. It is necessary to take private lessons while in this program.

This program is for hockey and ringette players who are looking to build upon their skating skills. We recommend skaters have completed stage 3 of CanSkate and/or play on a team. This is not a learn to skate program (sign up for CanSkate if you are looking for that). During the fall/winter, this program runs 2 days a week for an hour in conjunction with our Junior/Star 1 program. During the first half of the session, all skaters are in a group together and during the second half, the power skaters work on skating skills in a hockey/ringette format. In the spring, the sessions have only Power Skaters on the ice.
Hockey skates, gear, and sticks are requred for the program.

We love having adult skaters in our club! This spring, we ran an adult program which had all levels of skaters on the ice. If you are an adult skater interested in skating with us, please let us know. This will allow us to try to get ice time for adults only.
However, adults are always welcome to skate on our CanSkate, Junior/Star 1, Power Skating, or StarSkate sessions depending on their skills level.
