In 1972, a group of Military families wanted to arrange for organized skating lessons for their children. They formed a committee and the Greenwood Skating Club was created. In 1973, The Greenwood Skating Club became fully sanctioned by Skate Canada and according to its rules, operates as a not-for-profit, volunteer-based, community organization.  As a 14 Wing Club, we operate under the umbrella of the Wing and its rules and regulations as an NPF organization.  As such, we have an Executive Board that sees to the running of the club following its constitution. 

The club's history includes hundreds of Provincial Champions and Regional and National medalists. Dozens of our alumni were members of Nova Scotia Canada Games Teams as figure skaters and many more who went on to play hockey, ringette, and speed skating, after getting their start in our award-winning CanSkate Program.
