MY SERVICES

I distinguish myself as a professional interpreter,
dedicating my time and energy to respond to my clients' specific wishes and concerns.

Conference Interpreting

In conference interpreting, the spoken word is translated orally into another language. There are two main types that I can offer.

Speech-to-text Interpreting and Live Subtitling / Live Captioning

As a long-time live subtitler/captioner and certified Speech-to-text interpreter, I have a lot of experience in both disciplines. The spoken word is interpreted simultaneously into a written format for deaf people and people with hearing impairments.

Speech-to-text interpreting produces a continuous text in which everything that is said is transferred whereas with live subtitling, abbreviated sections are sent out.

Translation and Subtitling

In subtitling, I work with subtitles for deaf people and people with hearing impairments, which are created intralingually (German-German/English-English), as well as interlingual subtitles for foreign language video material (English/French - German).

Simultaneous

Interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting means that the interpreter translates the spoken word into the desired target language almost simultaneously. As this requires increased concentration, the interpreter always works in a team to enable a break for recuperation.

Depending on the nature of the assignment, either an interpreting booth with a mixing console or a guided tour system is required, as well as headphones and receivers for the target audience.

A third option is the so called "chuchotage", which is only recommended for one to a maximum of two participants. That means the interpreters sits apart with the participants and "whispers" the interpretation to them.

Consecutive

Interpreting

If only one language is to be interpreted, consecutive interpreting can be used.

No particular interpreting equipment is required. The interpreter stands next to the speaker with a notepad and interprets the speech in sections for the entire audience.

There is also the possibility of liaison interpreting for a small group of participants. The interpreter sits between the participants and interprets back and forth into both languages.

Translation

(Live) Subtitling/
Speech-to-text interpreting

If you need a translation or subtitles for a video, I am also the right person to contact.

I have a lot of experience in this field and a professional subtitling programme.

Live Subtitling as well as speech-to-text interpreting serves the inclusion of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing (SDH).
It thus offers accessibility, be it at events, in online events or on television.

For many years now, I have been doing live broadcast subtitling for the  public broadcasting station "Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, rbb", subtitling news magazines or other live broadcasting programs and I am working as a freelancer as well (see experience).
