I am very committed to the things that matter deeply to me. For example, I am part of the Berlin Initiative for Good Interpreting, which campaigns for better conditions and professionalisation in the field of community interpreting (e.g. interpreting for the police, authorities, in court, etc.). We offer training for interpreters and users, provide information and campaign for more visibility and fairness in these areas.
Also, I have become involved in Germany's Professional Association of Conference Interpreters (VKD im BDÜ e.V.) as a training coordinator, because I like the philosophy that you never stop learning.
In addition, I am a longtime member in the largest nature and environmental protection organisation in Germany, "Friends of the Earth Germany".
At the moment I am active in the working group urban mobility for Berlin within that organisation and in general I strive for a sustainable livestyle.
Another area, in which I am active is inclusion and accessibility. Since 2017 I work for the public broadcasting station "Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg, rbb", subtitling news magazines or other live broadcasting programs (like press conferences or consumer magazines) live, which means simultaneously, for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
I also subtitle other shows and documentaries (SDH) for them or the German public broadcasting station ARD. On top of that, I do live subtitling for other events and I am planning to become certified as a Palantypist (or speech-to-text reporter) this year.
Next to languages, theatre counts as one of my passions. That is why I was extremely happy to be involved in a theatre interpreting project in my studies and to be able to write my master thesis about that. Recently, I joined the association Drama Panorama e.V. that combines theatre work and translation.
