Johann George Mühlberg was born on the 13th of January 1720, to Michael Mühlbergs. He is likely to be named after Johann Georg, 1st Elector of Saxony, ruler of the Albertine Wettin dynasty. Following the Battle of Muehlberg, Saxony Wittenberg and the Electoral digntity were transferred to the Albertine line. Johann Georg I was followed by Johann Georg II, Johann George III and then Johann George IV.
Johann George was a gärtner (gardener) in Gleisberg. Gleisberg is 12 kms north-northwest from Hohentanne village, where Michael Mühlbergs farmed. Johann George served for more than 25 years as the local judge whilst also a notable musician and the local tax-keeper. Johann George Mühlberg died aged 65 in Gleisberg at 11 o’clock in the evening on the 12th of March 1785 after being ill for two weeks. He was buried three days later.
Regina Braunsdorf was born on the 9th of August 1729 at 9 o’clock in the evening. She was baptised two days later in Gleisberg. Witnesses to her baptism were Rosina Weises from Auerbach; Regina Brückers, wife of farmer Samuel Brückers in Cummersheim; and Andreas Hoffman, son of Michael Hoffman from Starbach.
Regina Braunsdorf was the daughter of Peter Braunsdorf and Regina Anders. Peter Braunsdorf and his father Martin Braunsdorf were both tailor’s.
Regina Anders’ father Christoph Anders was a judge and gardener in Gleisberg. Peter Braunsdorf and Regina Anders were married in Gleisberg on the 12th of September 1720.

Regina Braunsdorf and Johann George Mühlberg married on the 3rd of December 1752 in Gleisberg.
Johann George Mühlberg and Regina Braunsdorf had seven sons and three daughters. Three sons were stillborn.
Regina died nine years after her husband on the 12th of May 1794. She was buried three days later in Gleisberg. The funeral record notes that her eldest daughter Anna Rosina was too ill to attend the tomb.

was born at 7 o’clock in the evening of the 26th of July 1753. Anna was baptised two days later in Gleisberg. Her baptism was witnessed by Godparents; Johann Michael Keller, son of Johann Nicolaus Keller from Hohentanne; Maria Müllers, wife of Christian Müllers, schumacher (boot maker) in Marbach; and Anna Maria Braunsdorf daughter of Johann Braunsdorf, farmer in Brösen. Anna later married a Mr Götze.
2. Johanna Sophia Mühlberg,
born on the 29th of March 1755 and baptised two days later in Gleisberg. Godparents were; Gottlieb Starke, son of Gottfried Starke, farmer and judge; Johanna Sophia Schaberin youngest daughter of Johann Christoph Schaber, miller in castle; and Johanna Christina Uhlmans, wife of Christian Uhlmans gardener in Gleisberg.

9. Johann Gottlieb Mühlberg,
born on the 30th of May 1767. He was baptised the next day in Gleisberg. His baptism was witnessed by Godparents; Gottlieb Schuberth, farmer and judge; Anna Rosina Greifes, daughter of Peter Greifes, gardener in Starbach; and Johann Gottlieb Frönert, son of Johann Gottlieb Frönert, gardener and bricklayer in Gleisberg.
10. Johann Gottfried Mühlberg,
was born at 6 o’clock in the evening on the 9th of April 1770. He was baptised two days later by the same name as his fourth eldest brother. His Godparents were; Johann George Pasel, farmer; Gottfried Kolbe, gardener and judge in Prüfern; and Anna Rosina Pennewitzens, daughter of Johann George Pennewitzens, farmer and judge in Gleisberg. Johann Gottfried Mühlberg later married and had a son. The marriage record for his son indicates that Johann Gottfried was a gardener, farrier and weapons smith in Ebersbach.
