We live in a great area of the state for wrestling. On any given Saturday or Sunday, there are usually quite a few tournaments from which to choose. We will try to include nearby tournaments in our weekly emails. In addition, you can look on the Pennsylvania Youth Wrestling website to see the tournaments across the entire state - see the PYWrestling site @

Either is good. Round Robins are great because you are usually guaranteed 3-5 matches for the tournament, win or lose. Double elimination tournaments can also be good as they tend to have a bit more challenging wrestlers attend them.
Open tournaments are open to anyone from beginners with zero experience to state qualifiers. Novice tournaments are only for first and second year wrestlers. They are a great way to get some experience while you are just starting out. If your child consistently places in the top 1 or 2 at novice tournaments, then give an open a try!
We will identify a few tournaments during the year where we will send coaches. For many others, we will not be sending coaches. The best way to handle this is to connect with other parents that may be going. In many cases, some of the parents are also coaches and can coach several of the kids during the day.
The best way is to talk to the other parents. We encourage you to talk to the other parents at practice and get to know them. You will likely find that many of them have the desire to do tournaments but don’t yet know the best way to do it.
Please read entry forms carefully. There are generally NO REFUNDS.
Pre-registration is often required, and always suggested as this allows tournament organizers to bracket ahead of time. Additionally, most tournaments limit the number of entrants and walk-in registration fees are usually higher.
Note weigh-in times and the admission costs (wrestlers are charged a registration fee and spectators are charged admission)
Age can be challenged and you must have proof of age to challenge or if challenged, so you may want to have a copy of your wrestler's birth certificate or other proof of age on hand.
If you have any questions about an outside tournament, please don't hesitate to ask a coach or an officer. We are here to help.
If your wrestler places in an outside tournament, please email us info and a picture so we can share the good news with our group on Facebook and through our email list.
