Each year, starting around the first week of November and running through the first week of December, Gray Eagle homeowners can place at the curb up to 10 bags of leaves with their trash each week at no additional charge. Bags must be no larger than 32-gallon capacity. During this period only, homeowners do not need to call Republic Services if you have bags of leaves. All other trash must fit inside the Republic trash bins, or you must call to request pickup of bulk items as usual.
Here are some lawn maintenance tips for the fall leaf-raking season:
A best practice is to mulch leaves along with your grass and return all those nutrients back to your lawn.
Please do not rake or blow leaves into the streets. Blowing leaves and grass clippings onto the streets is a Fishers ordinance violation, since it increases the chance of storm sewer blockages and is a leading cause of excessive algae growth in our ponds and waterways.
Do not rake or blow leaves, limbs or other debris onto the HOA common areas, the golf course or other adjacent properties. Many of our common areas also include “beehive” storm sewer drains which can clog with additional leaves and/or grass clippings.
Consider the effort your neighbor puts into clearing leaves from their lawn. Do what you can to ensure your own work to gather leaves does not end up next door and whenever in doubt, communicate your plans together.
