- About Me: My name is Henok Alemayehu And I am a 4th year Environmental engineering student, I as an environmental engineering student I want to build a safe environment for the society by the knowledge I acquired here in AASTU.
- My team has assigned to do an IETP project, And me and my fellow friends have our own role in this project, And My role is to see what potential does our project do to our environment .
meeting our Advisor - We started our first session by meeting with our designated Advisor. this meeting not only helps us in meeting our Advisor but also between us the students. we started sharing our intentions, plans, interest
Week 2:
Brainstorming and Shortlisting
our team proposes six ideas for a project and we voted on our telegram group.
we shortlisted three ideas out of the six ideas we suggested and narrow it down to three
the three final ideas were:
1) Tomato powder production and drying machine.
2) Medication Dispensing Iot sytem.
3) Advanced DIY Seed planter with smart depth and spacing control.
and we finalized and chose the Tomato Powder Production Machine after pitching to the advisor. Each team member took on specific topics related to the selected concepts, gathering detailed information, reviewing existing literature, and examining case studies.
Week 3:
project proposal
We drafted the project proposal; Each group member was assigned to do certain tasks for the project proposal. so, me and yosef mesfin(who is also an environmental engineering student) was working on the timeline and contributed to the objectives and problem statement.
Week 4:
Revised the proposal based on feedback and submitted the final version.
After submitting our project proposal to our advisor, we received feedback that highlighted areas for improvement. We gathered to review his thoughts, and discuss the necessary revisions. Each member worked hard on their respective sections, implementing the suggested changes to enhance the clarity and coherence of our proposal. So finally we revised the proposal based on feedback and submitted the final version.
Week 5:
half of our team focused on the tomato powder experiment, the other half dedicated their efforts to 3D design and modeling using advanced software. This dual approach allowed us to make significant progress on both the practical and digital aspects of our project. The team working on the 3D models created detailed designs which played a crucial role in the execution of our project.
Week 6:
Budget Breakdown
Finalized materials, completed cost analysis, and procured resources. After reviewing and approving the proposal, our advisor facilitated the transfer of funds to the group which enabled us to proceed with the procurement of materials, ensuring that we are well-prepared to move forward with the project efficiently.
Week 7:
prototype construction
we began constructing and assembly of our prototype, we encountered delays due to sheet metal and RHS cutting issues. Despite these hurdles, we made progress as the preparation of dried tomatoes in the lab was successfully completed.
Week 8:
Prototype and Reflections
We finished our first freshly constructed prototype, finalizing the project's documentation, including our e-portfolio and comprehensive report, with each member contributing their insights. Reflected on contributions, including idea generation and creating a practical project timeline.
