Design and Development of a Drying
Machine for
Efficient Tomato Powder Production
Project Overview
The preservation of fresh tomatoes poses a significant challenge due to their high perishability andrelatively short shelf life. As a widely consumed and nutritionally valuable vegetable, tomatoes often face spoilage, leading to substantial waste. This project aims to address these issues by developing a specialized drying machine designed to produce high-quality tomato powder.
Tomato powder contributes to SDG 2: Zero Hunger by reducing food waste, enhancing nutrition, and supporting small-scale farmers through value-added products. Its long shelf life improves food availability, while sustainable processing methods promote resource efficiency and resilience, helping achieve food security and sustainable agriculture.
Tomato powder relates to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting better nutrition and reducing malnutrition. It retains essential nutrients like vitamins A and C, supporting immune function and overall health. Additionally, its accessibility and long shelf life make it a valuable dietary supplement, especially in underserved areas, improving public health outcomes.
