The Civil Engineering Department is one of the founding Departments of Government Polytechnic Godhra since 2005 started with an intake of 60 students and revised intake of 120 in 2008, over the years has grown tremendously, and has been playing an important role in the field of Civil Engineering. With its multifaceted faculty, it provides high quality teaching and practical knowledge.

A staff of 10 experienced and skilled professors in the Civil Engineering & Applied Mechanics Department, having the Head of the Department Dr. P. M. Shah (Ph.D) with a vast experience of 22 years and two professors with Master's degree and other professors having Bachelor's Degree with extensive experience of various Government departments such as Water Supply, Road & Building, and Town Planning, with 6 to 22 years of teaching experience serving the department for excellent education.

The department has created cooperation with industries to give on-field practical exposure, internships and field visits for students. The department is also actively engaged in the prestigious programme Vishwakarma Yojana of Gujarat Technological University.

The laboratories of the Department are well equipped. A modernisation of various laboratories in the Department is taken up every year in New Item by Government of Gujarat.

Programme Educational Objectives:

The engineers will be able to Excel in professional career and/or higher education by acquiring knowledge in Civil engineering principles.
The engineers will be able to Define & Analyse real life problems, will reach to appropriate solutions that are technically sound, economically feasible and socially acceptable.
The engineers will be able to Exhibit professionalism, ethical attitude, communication skills, team work in their profession and adapt to current trends by engaging in life long learning.

Programme Specific Objectives:

Apply the fundamental knowledge of modern software for 2d, 3d drafting of civil engineering drawings
Will be able to use knowledge of modern survey instruments like total station
By applying knowledge of material testing, students will be able to handle material testing industry.
Will be able to perform supervision duty technically and professionally in nearby industries.
