Once your build is ready, the next step is uploading it to a platform where players can download and play it.
This page explains how to upload your VR fangame to SideQuest, itch.io, and (optionally) App Lab.
Each platform has different requirements, but the upload process is straightforward once your build is packaged correctly.

App Lab is the most official and most difficult platform to publish on.

Free of placeholder assets
Free of bugs and crashes

Add trailer (recommended)
D. Upload Your APK

E. Submit for Review
Meta will check:
Performance
Stability
Content policy compliance
Store listing quality
F. Approval Time
App Lab reviews can take:
1–4 weeks
Longer if rejected
If rejected, Meta provides feedback so you can fix issues and resubmit
4. Version Numbers & File Naming
Use clean, consistent naming:
Quest APK:
YourGame_v1.0.0_Quest.apk
PCVR ZIP:
YourGame_v1.0.0_PCVR.zip
Update Example:
YourGame_v1.1.0_Quest.apk YourGame_v1.1.0_PCVR.zip
This keeps your releases organized and professional.
5. Release Notes
Every upload should include:
What changed
What was fixed
What was added
Known issues
Example:
v1.1.0 Update:
- Added new map: Canyon
- Improved climbing physics
- Fixed room code bug
- Optimized lighting in Forest
Clear release notes help players understand updates.
6. Testing After Upload
After uploading, always test:
Downloading the build
Installing it
Launching it
Multiplayer connection
Region selection
Room creation/join
Player spawning
Cosmetics syncing
Never assume the uploaded build works — always verify.
