A reading adventure map suggests different activities that interest students and involve reading in often unexpected ways. Examples of such activities include baking, playing board games and reading maps
A reading adventure map provides a variety of experiences that cater to different interests and reader readiness. The often informal reading tasks encourage participants to see themselves as being already readers and serve as a gateway for more extensive reading.
As the activities on the map would likely be completed over a period of time, the reading adventure map could be used over the holidays or as part of a special programme.
• Ensure a variety of tasks that cater to different interests, backgrounds and reader readiness
• Minimise barriers to entry by ensuring that any resources needed for the activities are easily accessible
• Provide a platform for students to track and share their progress (e.g., forum, collaborative platform)
