FTDNA is the largest commercial YDNA tester AND the BIG Y is likely the most common of the Full Y sequence tests.
While FTDNA has helped to identify sub groups within G-M3302, it doesn't provide us with Time to the Most Recent Common Ancestor (TMRCA) between these new sub-clades. Finding the SNPs WHERE we branch off from one another is great, but knowing WHEN we last shared an ancestor is just as important.
We need these times to help us understand when/when our male ancestors parted ways and perhaps understand HOW they got to where they ended up. Because of recent finds placing our male line in Central Anatolia in the early Bronze Age, G-M3302 descendants have a very real opportunity to understand the journey of their male line from the beginnings of the Human Journey into the modern era.
For us to be able to get these very important TMRCA's between us we need to:
A: Encourage current Y matches (Y-12,37,67,111) to get the Big Y (a substantial leap of investment and something that some may have to work towards).
B: Get BIG Y testers who already have results to order their BAM file from FTDNA and upload to YFULL. Some of you in this group, have the opportunity to take this step and it could potentially TRANSFORM what we know about M3302 and the journey of our ancestors. If you are in this category please consider making the best use of your Big Y, I will post directions in the comments.
C: If you are in contact with your matches, inviting them to join our FACEBOOK page will also help.
Another thing that FTDNA doesn't give you, but YFULL does, is placing ancient sequenced YDNA on the same tree and using this data to contribute towards TMRCAs.
As you can see, YFull doesn't have all of the currently discovered G-M3302 subclades. Hopefully, this group can begin to change this!
