Hi, Father David,
As you probably know, in the past, Holy Cross Family Ministries conducted Rosary Pilgrimages to Ireland, which always included a day at the Father Peyton Center in Attymass. Father John Phalen, C.S.C., former President of Holy Cross Family Ministries, would lead the tour. On one of the tours, Father John shared with us that one powerful way to pray for Father Peyton's intercession and favor was to pray the Rosary at his gravesite at Stonehill College. I have employed this prayer practice three times in the past ten to twelve years, each time with my prayer request being answered. I would like to share with you my most recent successful prayer experience.
A former colleague of mine from Norwood Hospital texted me on November 6, 2023, asking me to pray the Rosary for her daughter, Kristen, who was battling stage 3 sarcoma (cancer), which appeared suddenly at the beginning of September. I told her I would add Kristen to my "list," and I also sent her three Father Peyton prayer cards for her, her daughter, and her son-in-law, asking that they, too, pray for Father Peyton's intercession and favor.
Kristen went through ten weeks of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at Massachusetts General Hospital. That was followed by three surgeries to remove tumors from her left leg and then to rebuild her leg.
On a Sunday afternoon in November, I once again prayed a Rosary at Father Peyton's gravesite, asking for his intercession to Our Lady for Kristen's cure ... that she be made cancer-free. Kristen's Mom texted me just yesterday that surgery was successful, and all tumors were removed completely with clear margins. Kristen was discharged home the day before Christmas after being told by her doctors that she was cancer-free.
Words cannot describe this wonderful prayer outcome. Further, this is the fourth time I have prayed to Father Peyton and Our Lady in this manner. I am overwhelmed again with gratitude to Our Lady and Father Peyton for their help in answering this prayer for Kristen's cure. I am also grateful for the Holy Spirit and His leading me to Holy Cross Family Ministries twenty years ago.
God bless,
Bill
Thank you, Kristen and Bill, for letting us share this story. Father John Phalen’s spiritual guidance led Bill to act on behalf of family and friends by seeking Father Patrick Peyton’s intercessory prayer. Kristen’s family and friends united in prayer. I encourage each of you to do the same. Make an act of faith in prayer, and, if possible, a visit to pray at Venerable Patrick Peyton’s grave here on the campus of Stonehill College, Easton, MA, U.S.A. Your prayers are invaluable to the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of your loved ones and may lead to a miracle that would move Father Peyton, please God, to being declared a saint.
In Jesus and Mary,
Father David S. Marcham
