Welcome to the longitudinal global health curriculum for emergency medicine residents!
This curriculum is designed as an educational resource for emergency medicine residents who are considering a career in global EM, are hoping to learn more about how to get involved in the global EM community, or who simply have an interest in the field. Components
Monthly Lecture Series
Lectures will be posted on the google classroom monthly. Once a member of the classroom you will receive notification when a new lecture is released.
Multi-Institutional Journal Clubs
There will be two global health journal clubs yearly held via Zoom for discussion of new and interesting topics within the global emergency medicine sphere.
Global Health Meetings
Optional bi-annual (Winter & Spring) meeting with a global health mentor. Opportunities to sign up for mentorship will begin in the fall.
Getting the most out of this curriculum
This curriculum was built in 2022 with the busy emergency medicine resident in mind in hopes that we could fill an educational gap for those who have interest in global EM that extends beyond what you find within your usual residency training. Please view the pre-recorded lectures that are posted on the google classroom each month. These short lectures are given by global health experts from across the country and serve to address a variety of important topics within modern global EM. We encourage you to post your related thoughts for the monthly discussion questions, and please feel free to comment and engage with one another on the forum. On this website, you can also find additional resources and references to deepen your understanding of these topics. Participating in the twice-yearly online journal club is an opportunity to keep up-to-date within the field and meet peers and mentors with similar goals and interests. Please feel free to reach out to us as an additional resource with any questions or comments about the curriculum or related global EM topics.
Residents who complete the following requirements have the opportunity to receive a certificate of completion for the curriculum to add to their CV:
Complete the monthly lecture discussion question on the google classroom to verify you viewed the lecture. This will be 10 months total.
Either attend the 2 journal clubs or complete the asynchronous discussion question(s) for each journal club
