Language Justice in healthcare

Dr. Maniraj Jeyaraju is a family medicine resident with interests in language justice and global health. Sparked by his immigrant and clinical experiences, he is exploring language injustices in healthcare. Collaborating with community partners, his current initiative is to improve language access in his own clinic with a focus on Arabic speaking patients. He holds an interdisciplinary studies bachelors degree from UMBC with a concentration in "Health Ethnography" and a MD from University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Jamie Russell is an Education Specialist within the Interpreter Services Program at UNC Health. In this lecture, she will be discussing language access within the UNC Health Emergency Department.
