Refugee & Asylum Seeker Populations

Dr. Michael Jaung is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine. He completed a Global Health/International EM fellowship at Baylor and has a masters in Tropical Medicine from the University of London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He has had multiple assignments abroad with MSF/Doctors without Borders in Sierra Leone, Peru, Brazil, oPT, Lebanon, and Malawi. In this lecture, Dr. Jaung defines refugee and asylum seeking populations, epidemiology within these groups, factors influencing their healthcare, resources available to them, and how to get involved in their care.
