Happy Holidays!
Valley Stream District 13's 5th and 6th grade Gifted and Talented students participated in the exciting STEM X Festival at the Cradle of Aviation on Friday, October 10, in collaboration with National Grid and Morrison Mentors. Students engaged with a wide range of hands-on STEM activities, including Rover Robots, Drones, VR headsets, Circuits, Straw-bees, LEGOs, and Solar-Powered Cars. Through these interactive stations, students explored innovative ways to harness technology and solar energy to help redesign and power the cities of the future. A highlight of the day was the planetarium show on Future Cities, which sparked creativity and encouraged students to think critically about sustainability and innovation. "Although this festival was designed for middle and high school students, our 5th and 6th graders showcased their impressive growth, patience, and collaborative spirit to get the most out of the day," said Ms. Garry, Gifted and Talented teacher. "They truly rose to the challenge and engaged meaningfully with every opportunity."
