What does love mean to you? (After reading a science fiction comic of 'War of the Worlds'...) How would you explain love to aliens from another planet? If you invented a love holiday, what would it be?

Spirit of Invention Visit!
Prototype: "The Flying Pink Button Car" -- "I made my prototype with paper tubes, pipe cleaners, straws, pool noodles that are cut in half, tape, and scissors. I'm most proud of how my invention turned out! I think it's one of a kind and I had so much fun!" - Mila
Prototype: "The Mugo-Matic" -- "I'm most proud of the handles because they turned out to be stronger than I thought. The toilet paper rolls and the pool noodles worked as if they were stuck together also!" - Zackarie
Prototype: "The Designer" -- "I am most proud of the colorful buttons and pipe cleaners. I am most proud of it because I wanted my design to look nice!" - Hannah

The Great Paper Chain Challenge & Logic Stations
First Day of G&T - Experimenting with the 3D Printer, Tower Challenge, and learning fun facts about our peers!
As a first year Gifted and Talented student in the 4th grade, I have learned many things. On the first G&T we Experimented with the 3d printer, we did a spaghetti tower challenge and learned about our classmates. On the second week of G&T we did Logic puzzles and we did the great paper chain challenge. In the challenge we tried to make the longest paper chain out of one piece of paper. On the third week of G&T we built anything we wanted out of lego in A matter of time. On the fourth week of G&T we turned in our Jack-O-Lanterns which were not made of pumpkins. On the Fifth week of G&T we started building our simple machines projects out of k’nexs. On the sixth week of G&T we had a visit from a person from The Long Island Children’s Museum. They said we have to create things out of recycled material. On week seven we did a pre-thanksgiving scratch coding a 24 tournament and continued our simple machines unit. In the eighth week of G&T we did some creative writing. We had to write if we were in a snowglobe and a fictional story about it. On week nine and ten we created a Christmas card out of code for someone in the school.
In January we listened to a book called War Of The Worlds. We had to write how we would write how we would explain love to an alien. We also wrote about if we created a holiday about love what it would be. In February we finished our simple machines and presented them. Another thing we did was a steam challenge. We had to stack them on top of each other without glue and things that stick them together. We also had 24 tournaments. You have to make 24 out of the numbers you get on the cards. In march we started our Astronomy unit where we wrote fictional stories about a subject we chose and we made a comic strip that goes with the story.
In April we did our invasive species campaign, where we warned people about invasive species. In May we became published authors and the book is called Tales Of 4th Grade Astronomers. We also made comic strips about another subject, for example the big bang theory. We also used figurative language to write mother’s day poems that were full of similes. Finally in May we made ad posters to convince people to go to Europa in the future. In June we had our end of year showcase but before the parent came we went to Mrs. Garry’s room to eat snack and then we went to the General purpose room and then we read our work to the parents and that's it our whole G&T year.
