Publishing Using Digital Books

Welcome to the CHALLENGE section of this Book Study!

In this first challenge you will explore a new tool to publish your very own digital book (or the start of one). We are going to learn and use Book Creator! There are two parts to this challenge. The first part you will create your own account. The second will have you participating in a collaborative comic book.

Take a minute to familiarize yourself with Book Creator by watching this introductory video

Part 1: Make Your Own Book

• Go to app.bookcreator.com and create a teacher account (free account allows your students to create 40 books)
• Choose a book size and book shape (regular or comic book)
• On the first page do the following five things
  1. Import a picture, bitmoji or avatar.
  2. Add your name under that object
  3. Bring in a picture of your favorite tool you learned about in the book
  4. Write one paragraph about why that is your favorite tool and how you use it
  5. Record your voice telling why this is your favorite tool
  6. Tap the “i” or inspector button to change the page background color and font size and color of your name and anything else you would like.
  7. Publish the book by clicking on the share button which is located on the bottom of the page (click the middle button)
  8. Copy the link and paste it in on the Embedded Padlet located on the bottom of this page

Part 2: Collaborative Comic Book - the collaboration aspect is available with premium feature

• Go to app.bookcreator.com
• Join using KGJP2 code (you join where the library is located on the top of the page)
• You will need to add a new page. This is a collaborative book so you will see others work.
• This is a story about teaching superpowers ! It can be about your personal superpowers as a teacher or it can be fictional. You will add a character to the story (you can be creative about this).
• Make sure you have:
  1. An imported picture or one of yourself
  2. Panel
  3. Backgroud color
  4. Storyline with word bubbles
  5. BE CREATIVE!
