Why is this Problem Important?

As previously stated in our problem to solve section we have indicated that the community of the Rio Grande Valley faces several issues with heat throughout the year, especially during the summer months.  This coupled with the increasing energy cost in the area, has negatively impacted the people of this region.  Which is why the creation of a geothermal heating/cooling system would prove to be beneficial to the people of this community.  By making a design efficient, reliable and most importantly affordable.  Another factor on a bigger scale that shows the significance on solving this problem would be the need to create methods of energy utilization that could reduce our carbon footprint.
